Read the clue type before guessing

Each question names its category. A carol clue asks for a title; an object clue asks for a thing. Read that label and the four choices before matching the pictures. The emoji suggest the answer as a whole, rather than encoding every word or letter.

Let pairs confer before tapping. Once you pick, read the explanation to see how the pictures connect. Give one point for a correct answer and move to the next clue when everyone has had a look.

If you're running this at a table, take turns being the person who taps. The guest holding the phone doesn't get all the guesses.

Test one printed page first

Open Print quiz and inspect the preview. Emoji can change appearance between devices, browsers and printers. Print a sample and check that each picture is visible before making copies for your group.

Keep the answer key away from player copies. Guests can circle an option with a pen, then swap sheets for the reveal. If a picture fails to print clearly, use the screen for that clue and give everyone the same view.

Let the table solve a stubborn clue

For a relaxed version, give the whole table one shared score. Ask for a proposed answer and a quick reason before choosing. A disagreement about which picture means what can be the most entertaining part; give it a moment, then reveal and continue.

Stop after five clues if you're filling a short wait. Save the remaining questions for later, and let new arrivals join without catching up on points. You can also alternate picture clues with a conversation break so the phone doesn't hold the room all evening.
